- An Ode
to Planning : Or What do my laptop and a paperweight have in common? - Keith
Casey discusses the happy feeling derived from a good backup strategy. Here's a
thought experiment for you: how badly off would you be if a crazed Elbonian terrorist
yanked the primary hard drive out of your working computer and whacked it multiple
times with a sledgehammer? If that makes you cringe, your backup plan needs work.
- Building a Quiet PC - Jeff Atwood offers some own advice. I have my own plan: I knocked a hole
in the wall and moved noisy systems into the attic. All I need is *one* quiet PC
with a networkable DVD and floppy and I'm set.
- Lingr - Free online browser-based chat with
no signup procedure. Looks ideal for quick pick-up meetings if you've got a group
where not everyone is on the same IM service. (via

The Advanced .NET Components Library |
What Microsoft didn't tell you...
The .NET automatic memory management
technique is not perfect. An object can be collected by the garbage
collector when the object has no more references. It's logic that a
button will not be collected when a form still knows it's there. But
there are other references that you might not expect, references that will keep objects alive without your knowledge. This
will cause unwanted memory leaks in your applications.
Free
Qios.DevSuite.MemoryPack to solve this problem
You can prevent memory leaking in you own .NET applications now, for free. Visit
our special
MemoryPack pages at
www.qiosdevsuite.com and download all the free stuff we have
prepared for you. Examples and code snippets are available too.
Qios.Devsuite.MemoryPack libray comes with source and is free to use! |
