Gates Ushers in Third Decade of Windows Innovation With x64 Editions, "Longhorn" Technical Preview - Not surprisingly, a new developer preview build of Longhorn came out at WinHEC. Though I think the section of the press release reading "Microsoft Builds Anticipation, Readiness for Longhorn" would more properly be "Microsoft hopes like hell there's anticipation and readiness for Longhorn." They've been promoting this beast for so long on the one hand, and removing so many features on the other, that I'm no longer convinced it's going to generate all that much excitement when it finally gets out the door.
