I spent a big chunk of the weekend reading galley proofs for my next book - probably not the book that a lot of Larkware readers are expecting!

Software

• EasySQL4Fox - FoxPro function library to convert FoxPro SQL to T-SQL. Trial available, $99.95 to purchase.
• MySQL Manager 3.0 for Windows - Looks like pretty much all the GUI you might need. Freeware and pay editions.
• EazyCode 3.0 - This $99 VB.NET database-backed code generator has added some new templates in this version.
• FreeTextBox 3.0 - I see this free cross-browser ASP.NET HTML editor has snuck out a new major version and a paid version since I last plugged it. (via Onur Biyik)
• Microsoft Office Visio 2003 Connector for the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) - Get the results of an MBSA scan in graphical form. A cute hack, though of course real sysadmins prefer green letters on black backgrounds with the occasional --more-- prompt. (via Stefano Demiliani)
• Continuous Forms for .NET - This is what happens when you turn an Access developer loose on C#.
• VBCommenter 1.2.5 - One of several solutions for adding XML comments to VB.NET, this one has a new release with speed improvements out.
• Go Back Add-in for VS.NET 2003 - Code navigation add-in for Visual Studio. (via Eric Brunsen)
• Alchemi .NET Grid Computing Framework - Apparently this one is nearing its first release version. (via Ohad Israeli)

• Customizing MSF for Agile Software Development - Randy Miller shows how to use InfoPath to customize the new MSF files.
• Keep Writing SharePoint Web Parts Until (at least) 2006 - Some information about the interactions of SharePoint and ASP.NET. Of note is the fact that you can't install ASP.NET 2.0 on a SharePoint server until WSS SP2 comes out, at least not if you want your SharePoint to keep working. Just a reminder to those who go around promiscuously installing beta software.
• Coding Guidelines for Visual Basic Samples - Turns out that Microsoft is in fact preparing to ship their own set of guidelines with VS2005. (via yag)
• Enterprise Library Logging Performance Analyzed - Hisham Baz uses a profiler to dig into the code a bit.
• Microsoft Technology Summit Notes on the CLR - Some interesting low-level odds and ends.

Community

• Whidbey Chat with Eric Rudder Transcript - It looks like the official participants spent a good deal of time ducking questions, but having been in on the Microsoft side of some of these chats I suspect that just reflects the fact that no one trains the chat participants in using the tools, so they're usually one big Chinese fire drill.
