The
Daily Grind 473
By Mike Gunderloy
Monday, October 4, 2004
SpaceShipOne made it to the edge of space again. Somehow that makes my
efforts to figure out e-mail in the .NET Compact Framework seem pretty
insignificant.
Software
-
Open Workbench - Open-source
alternative to Microsoft Project. Doesn't include all the integration
features of Project, but looks reasonably functional.
-
Paint.net 1.1 -
.NET-based replacement for Paint, now with plug-ins as well as various
effects. Windows XP only.
-
DBMethods - Library to allow calling SQL queries and stored procedures
from managed code with minimal effort.
-
An XSD to .NET
language code class generator that adds real punch to Microsoft's XSD Tool
- The author replaces the Microsoft tool in search of more robust output.
-
Announcing the MSBuild Compatibility Toolkit 1.0 - Robert McLaws comes
up with a way to use the new VS2005 build tool to target downlevel projects.
It's an interesting approach, but I would be very careful about using such
an unsupported hack, no matter how brilliant, on production code.
-
Database
Resetter - Tool to remove data from a SQL Server test database and reset
all the identity values in one fell swoop.
-
GhostDoc 1.2.0 Released - Upgrade to the tool that automatically deduces
XML documentation based on member naming.
