The
Daily Grind 378
By Mike Gunderloy

I think I shall try to have an actual coding day today, because it's too wet
to work in the garden, and because some of my clients will be coming after me
with pitchforks and torches if I don't deliver soon. But first, time to clear
out some of these browser windows.
Software
-
Retina 5.0
Open Beta Program - eEye is getting ready to release a new version of their
network security scanner, and there's a beta signup available.
-
sqlXpress Diff
- New product to identify differences between Microsoft SQL Server databases and
to produce change scripts. In open beta right now.
-
Quest Central
for SQL Server - Freeware version of Quest's video-game interface for
monitoring SQL Server databases.
-
Disktective - Freeware
disk-space reporting application. (via
DEJD)
Information
-
Leveraging
.NET Components - Advertising and editorial supplement to SD Times that
includes some modestly interesting content on various .NET components and
their vendors.
-
Server-Side
Unit Testing in ASP.NET - Trick to create a valid HttpContext so that
you can use NUnit directly to test your server-side supporting code.
-
Oracle and Microsoft Partner to Boost Developer Productivity - Oracle
joins the VSIP at the premier level and says they're going to be offering
support more tightly integrated into VS .NET. Note that this does not
imply that VS .NET will natively offer any better Oracle support than it
does now, or that the Oracle classes in the Framework will be improved. But
it's a step in the right direction.
