Saturday, January 24, 2004Another early toddler morning. Time to get a jump on the week!
Software
- SoftArtisans Office Writer - J2EE/ASP/ASP.NET product for creating Word and Excel documents on the server without installing Office. (via Chris Kunicki)
- MSN Toolbar Beta - So, the way MSN is going to catch up to Google is by bald-facedly copying Google? Go get your own ideas, MSN.
- Aspose.License - Licensing component for .NET applications, now offered for free.
RSS
- Howell Development Syndication Library - Atom and RSS support for .NET.
- RSSAds - Whether this particular brokerage succeeds or not, more advertising in RSS feeds is inevitable.
Community
- Indigo: The Evolution of the in-memory message - Clemens Vasters looks at how messages have involved from ASMX to WSE to Indigo.
- Don Box ServerSide.NET interview notes - Benjamin Mitchell sums up Don's recent video interview. Boy, I wish someone would do this for all the video and audio bits of developer information out there, for those of us who don't have the bandwidth (Internet or mental) to sit through the whole thing. I need information, not a human face.
- Audit logs & Datasets Tip - Andres Aguiar offers an interesting way to audit database activity by using Diffgrams.
- Just how is this news? - Seth Bradner discusses the monoculture argument. "All this talk of the dangers of software monocultures, which I've done some of myself, is accurate but irrelevant." (See also my own rant "Questioning the Monoculture Argument").
- DevDays Bloggers - I personally don't get the attraction of event-specific blog aggregation sites, but here's the latest anyhow.
- .Text Search - Dedicated search engine for weblogs.asp.net and blogs.msdn.com, though it seems to me that using Google would be just as easy.
