The Daily Grind 101

Getting up with the dawn gets more fun as summer proceeds. I don't get to my computer any earlier, though, because there's always stuff to do outside in the yard and garden. Eventually, though, I tear myself away and discover that the Internet is, in fact, still there. Here's some flotsam that it threw up on the shore today:

  • Clemens Vasters has released a big pile of cutting edge Enterprise Services code in the newtelligence SDK
  • The new version of the ASP.NET Web Matrix, "Web Matrix Reloaded", is out and about. This is the free IDE for ASP.NET projects from the ASP.NET team, featuring integrated Access and SQL Server data management, rendered user controls, mobile and Web Service support, and lots more. If you need to do Web development, this provides a solid free alternative to paying for Visual Studio .NET. Even if you have VS .NET, you might still want to install this one for the very nice MDI class browser.
  • Also out with a new release is FxCop, the code analysis tool that checks for conformance to the .NET Framework Design Guidelines. I'm toying with making this a part of my build process in the future. Note that there is not yet an SDK for this version, so you might want to hold off if you need to write your own rules.
  • Agile Build Engineering - new Wiki hoping to cover the areas "where Agile Software Development and Build Engineering collide."
  • Logic Library and Groove, two companies doing interesting collaborative things, are now doing interesting collaborative things together.
  • Building Persistence into .NET Programs - A little something I whipped up for Developer.com
